Hi my name is Gomer.  If you don't know who I am or who Hosea is, then this probably isn't the blog for you to read.  If you are interested to learn about me, my kids, and my husband read the book of Hosea in the Old Testament. I love my husband's prophetic voice.  I know I let him down repeatedly.   I struggle with my faith and I often come up short but I continue to seek.

What I will be doing on my days off -- I am a working girl after all -- is blogging about the current pathetic state of the modern Christian church.   I'm not much interested in the fundamentalists -- I find too much of their theology and beliefs flawed from its foundations.  At its best though, the fundamentalists have a compassion for others that is stunningly beautiful.    I just wish more of them could have that compassion for sinners -- and we are all sinners.

So I seek faith in mostly mainline churches, churches that are declining in number, in influence, and in faith. While such decline causes much hand wringing and many solutions, there is little substantive, sustained critiques of what these mainline churches are doing.  So my target is the mainline churches whether conservative (distinct from fundamentalism) or liberal in whatever denomination.   As a traveling working girl I get around to a wide variety of these mainline churches.   I will be posting my critiques of their services of worship, their pastors, their web sites, and so much more.   Be forewarned, though, I am raunchy.
